 Mill Creek area
« Thread Started on Sept 20, 2004, 12:26pm »

Mill Creek is near Combs Arkansas. From Fayetteville, take Arkansas 16 east to Combs, turn south on Forest Service Road (FS Road) 1007 for 4 miles, turn left on FS Road 1509 1/2 mile to the trailhead.

This 42-mile trail system features a 27-mile main loop interlaced with 15 miles of interior loops and connectors. It varies from laid-back cruises on ridges and streamsides to thigh-burning climbs and white-knuckle descents.

The trail leads the rider through remote areas of the Ozark National Forest and features spectacular mountainous terrain, scenic views, lush upland hardwood forests, unique rock outcroppings and clear mountain streams. The main trail and inside loops are connected to accommodate riders who want to vary the length of their trips.

A vault toilet is available at the trailhead on FS Road 1509. The graveled trailhead parking area contains a loading ramp and information board.

No camping is allowed at trailhead. State laws regarding spark arresters and mufflers will be enforced. ATVs are not allowed in designated campgrounds except for entering and leaving the area.

Anyways, this area is really a blast to ride. Work Hill is truly work. Super Bowl Hill is an awesome trail to ride. Rock Slide is fun to see.

I have been to Mill Creek about 4 times and was fortunate enough to ride entire trail system each time. There are a few challenging sections of trail that require some carefull thought and planning but nothing that would really require 4X4.

Went to Mill Creek and over onto Fly Gap Mountain today...rode 83 miles and never hit same trail twice. Forest Service has been hard at work making trails more passable for all riders. Really a nice place to visit after some good rain.

;)Mill creek is awesome. There are numerous trails besides the marked trails. Can ride for days. As for being too rough for sport quads. Thats bull. Rough? YES! Try racing these trails. Just go faster, then you wont feel as much. Blue trail is great. But, for the full benefit of the area you must ride the trails off the beaten path. Spend at least 6 weekends a year or more on these trails. see ya there. ;)

Well we finally made it up to Mill Creek from here in Texas. We actually rode Wolf Pen Gap for 3 days and then 2 days in Mill Creek.

We stayed in a cabin at the Mulberry River Ranch off of Highway 23 and they have access to the trails by way of the gas pipe line. We kind of got disoriented the second day and had to ride into Cass, as we had ridden more than 7 hours and it was getting late. We actually rode the highway back 3 miles to get to our cabin.

Some of these trails are pretty rocky and steep, but my son made it fine on his dirt bike. We found the waterfall south of Mill Creek, but it was a hard ride getting in and out.

Lots of fun, and ready to go again. Maybe someone can help me find the Prairie Grove trails near Devil's Den. My wife has family in the Springdale and Pineville area so we may make it back this summer.

I marked most of the interesting stuff with GPS if anyone wants the waterfall waypoint.

Teriyaki :)

We have a ride for Prairie Grove schedule on April 8-9...we have 2 quads in the shop right now waiting. They told us 2 weeks, so we are hoping they will be out in time for the trip and if they aren't, we'll reschedule!!!

Is there a place to camp in a camper and ride your 4-wheelers to the trails? How far is it from Fayetteville?
