 Salina Dam Area
« Thread Started on Nov 2, 2004, 8:04pm »

We have been reading a lot about the Salina Dam Area. We are wanting to check it out sometime. Since it is only about 30 minutes from us, we may be able to check it out this weekend. Anyone interested?

Alright...we need to go check out Salina. Raymond and Chris went out there this weekend and they both really liked it. They liked it better than Disney. Chris rode the Raptor and Raymond took out the Prairie 700.

Chris said it was smoothier trails and some mud. Raymond said the drag strip was pretty cool. They could line up about 5 ATVs to race.

What do you all think? Would you be interested in riding there Sunday? If we can?

Hey...well we want to ride there Sunday. I know I do. Salina is about 45 minutes East of Tulsa near Locust Grove, OK...it's not far from the Disney Dam Area.

If you ride in Salina, we will probably need to come up on Friday night. Tulsa is 5 hours from Dallas. Send us some pictrues so I can get Ginny sold on the idea

Well I don't have any pictures of Salina because I have never been either. My bro and bro in law went last weekend for the first time and really loved it.

I really want to go there this weekend, so if anyone else wants to go, let us know!

Off the ATV Connection Forum from Spudds:

An ATV accident happened there and they may be shutting the place down:

There was a near fatal (guy is in critical condition and has a 50/50 chance) crash down there Saturday afternoon.. And GRDA and every agency around showed up and said "NO MORE THATS IT WERE DONE WITH THIS"

This guy was a riding freind of mine and was racing on the drag strip and was on his way back to the start (racing back) when some IDIOT PUNK decided he would pull out in front of him.. It demolished the predator that he was on and trough him over the bike and broke EVERY bone in is face all of his teeth and on one arm broke every bone from his fingers to his shoulder and broke all his ribs and puntured his lungs another buddy said by the time they got to him there was a 3ft puddle of blood around him, they life flighted him to tulsa... All because you have stupid ppl riding a machine they have NO bussiness being on.. This guy(the one who pulled out in front of this guy) had a brand new warrior and it broke the case in half and pretty much destoyed his quad to on top of crushed his leg..

Definitely still open....Me and Sean went there today(12/22/05)...Pretty cool place...Has a little bit of everything...Creeks, woods, river bed(rocks), drag strip and plenty of jumps..The only thing it didn't have was sand(ie, beach)...Would definitely recommend if you would like a good day ride...50 miles from Broken Arrow, OK if you go to it from the west side(instead of going through Salina and back across lake)....For the ladies, there are no restrooms there, so plan on going "au-natural" if you have to go out there :(

Take 412 east to Locust Grove exit, turn left (north) to Salina. Turn back west at harps in Salina. Go past the bridge and turn left after the bridge, there will be a sign there. I can't remember what it actually says. Take that road and It will lead right to the Dam. The last time I went there were a few trails in the works. It will not take all day to ride everything, atleast the last time i was there. Its a fun place though. :D ::) :-[

Sounds like there will be another ride out there this Saturday. More info is under the "Happy Birthday Raymond" thread on the main page of the forum.

I have to work...so I won't be there...I had a blast out there this past Saturday. It was great...little dusty...but a lot of fun!

AND GRDA PULLED UP AND SAID WE COULDNT BE ON THAT SIDE AND TOLD US, WE NEED TO GET BACK ON THE RIDING AREA SIDE... OR PLANNED ON TAKING A RIDE WITH THEM!!! U CAN PULL A TOY HAULER ON THAT SIDE AND PARK... AND RIDE TO THE OTHER SIDE, THE GRDA SAID WE CAN DO THAT!!!

chevyman,

do you have to park over by the boat ramp...past the gate, or on that gravel area north of the gate? I don't want to get hassled by GRDA during my good time :P

THERE'S 2 BOAT RAMPS OVER THERE... IF U ARE HAULING GUADS IN YOUR TRUCK, U WOULD HAVE TO GO OVER THE CATTLE GUARD IN THE ROAD TO THAT PARKING AREA... WHERE THEY HAVE GRDA ATV RULES SIGN (UP IN THE TREE)!!! THE ONLY WAY U CAN PARK ON THE OTHER SIDE IS, IF U HAVE A TOY HAULER, THAT'S HAS A TOILET SYSTEM IN IT...BY WHAT GRDA SAID!!!

Yeah, Raymond explained it. If you have a RV with toliet system, park on the other side...or tent with a portable toliet will work too they said. Otherwise if you are there just to ride for the day, go past the cattleguard where we are alotted our space.

GRDA said they just like to keep us separate so we can all have our space and enjoy our time there. They were very nice and not hassling us at all.

3 of us went out there today. Pretty cool place. I like it alot better than appalachia.
I took the rancher, its 2 wheel drive and never got stuck, only a few puckers but wiggled it out. Now my cousin on the magnum 4x4 followed behind me, I had to pull him out of mud holes. I thought it was funny.
