Hey out there all! I just thought I would let ya'll know that my hubby, Raymond, has been sick for a week now with tick fever. We got a tick off of him last Monday night and he started getting sick early the next morning. I took him to the hospital Wednesday night since he kept getting worse. The idiots there just sent him home with some acetamenaphine with codeine without testing him for anything! I took him back on Friday night and they finally put him through the ER and tested him for tick fever. They said the results wouldn't be back for two weeks! They went ahead and put him on antibiotics just in case.
He had to go back for a follow up yesterday and was sent to the Adult Walk-In Clinic at the Indian Hospital. He actually got a doctor that knew what he was talking about, drew more blood and ran tests right there. It was confirmed that he has tick fever.
He told the doctor that he had been throwing up right after taking his antibiotic and the doc told him that he'd have to keep it down or he'd be put into the hospital then gave him some nausea meds to help out. They've helped a lot and he hasn't gotten sick since then.
He's feeling a lot better but he's about to go crazy being stuck in the house LOL! Just please keep him in your thoughts and watch out for those ticks!!!

Just an FYI....Sanddude from okatvriders.com also contracted Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever on our camping/riding trip in Mid-March...He pulled a tick off of himself while were riding...Went to the Dr. a few days after we got back and they put him on anti-biotics and he was off work for a week....I have done some research on this subject since and I've found out that putting permethrin on your clothes and at least 25% deet on your skin is an excellent way to repel the nasty little buggers...Hope you get to feeling better soon Raymond...You can bet "all the critters" are gonna be horrible this year with all the rain...We set a over 100 year record for rain in the Tulsa area for the month of April.... pubs.caes.uga.edu/caespubs/pubcd/L417.htm

Well, just an update....Raymond is feeling much much better and just in time for us to take our trip to OKC!!! We had a blast by the way. I think he was really ready to get out of the house by Friday morning when we left. Anyway, thanks for thinking of him and I hope Sanddude is back to feeling better......it's some scary stuff!
