We had minor hail damage, Ray and Heather lost a swimming pool, Dawn had a couple of her windows in her house broken, other than that nothing major. We do have a relative that lost her house. She was on the front page of the Tulsa World today. We just got our electric turned back on at about 8:30 pm tonight. There are a couple of houses not far from us that was destroyed along w/ some chicken houses that was just built last fall. Twin Oaks convient store was heavily damaged. Nobody in this family got injured. That was the scariest thing Ive been through in my life. Thanks for wondering about us Mark. :otornadoes

Thank you Mark. We were so lucky...it only passed within 20 acres or so of us...directly behind us. I was at home and my Mom came and told us to go to her place. About 10 minutes later, it passed. We got small hail first, then SILENCE!!
I told Chris and Janetta to put Ashley and Brooklyn in the bathtub with pillows and blankets. I went to the front door...and could hear it. I closed the door and went back to the bathroom. I told them to say a prayer cause we were gonna need it. Then debris starting hitting the house. It was gone so quick. We went outside and a tree was down in the yard. It took probably 30 minutes and then we saw all the lights off rescue squads and ambulances. We knew Twin Oaks got hit.
I suffered 2 broken windows, but everyone else was fine. We were so lucky!!! Some folks around here lost everything...our Aunt and Uncle lost their place. We helped over there a few days.
It's just amazing! I'm 32 years old and have never seen such destruction. It makes you appreciate what you have, your family, your friends, everything!!!

Glad to hear you guys made it out fairly unscathed... I drove through the Moore/OKC area the day after "the big one" in 1999...It looked like an absolute war zone...Like a nuclear bomb had gone off for miles and miles...I saw the Twin Oaks area on TV...looked pretty bad...That's the scary thing with tornadoes, your house could be demolished and the one next door is fine...Glad everyone is OK.... Good luck to your neighbors and relatives who took a direct hit...

Yah, thanks Mark for checking on us. We definitely appreciate it. I am still amazed at all the destruction a tornado can really do. Everyday when I drive by I just think "Oh my God, we are so very lucky!" It was scary being in the bathroom with girls in the bathtub all covered up and me hanging over them to make sure they stayed there and not move until it was all over. Probably the hardest part was trying to explain to them "why" they had to sit still and "why" they were in the bathtub. I know Brooklyn really didn't understand and was scared. Needeless to say our family "will" be purchasing an underground shelter in the very near future so we all have one central location to go in case this ever happens again. Afterall, the season is just beginning. The most important thing is we are all okay!!! The minor stuff can be fixed...it is nothing compared to losing everything you own.

Yes...you find out who your true friends are when they check on you after an event like this. I had several people calling, sending IMs, emailing and so forth...I appreciate every single one of you. I hope that nothing like this happens to anyone that I know...but if it does, I know I'll be there to help in any way I can...

I agree -- that was the scariest thing I've ever been through in my life! Even the car wreck Raymond and I had in '99 was nothing compared to the twister that went through here --- and that was a bad car wreck! Now I hate to see any sort of storm clouds come up for fear that it will happen again.
We were really lucky compared to the house in behind us -- it was totally destroyed! I hate having to drive through Twin Oaks just because it's so sad to see all of the damage and the homes of people that you know completely destroyed. I hope to God that nobody else will ever have to go through something like that!
Thanks for checking on us Mark!
