Rebels will be going to ride at Salina Dam on Memorial Day weekend 2011. We wanted to ride somewhere smaller and by the lake. Hopefully (!) less people.
If you're interested in going, please let us know. We will have most of our kids there for this ride, so please bring yours!
We'll be camping Friday, 27 and Saturday, 28.

Take 412 east to Locust Grove exit, turn left (north) to Salina. Turn back west at harps in Salina. Go past the bridge and turn left after the bridge, there will be a sign there. I can't remember what it actually says. Take that road and It will lead right to the Dam.
We can camp to the left by the lake if we have campers or tents with toliet systems according to the GRDA. That's the only way they will allow an ATV on that side...Raymond and I got stopped the last time we were there and the GRDA was patrolling it that day. They kindly told us to stay to the right where the RULES signs are posted...

The road is called Boatman Road, It leads to the Kerr Dam. I'm a Mayes County Deputy Sheriff so I never get to have the holidays off to ride, but if were not too busy, I'll try to stop by and say hi, (I will also put in a good word for you with the GRDA guys, lol)

Hey. Yes, please stop by to say "Hi"...we should be camping on the lake side. We'll have a Rebel flag flying over the camp I'm sure. If you really want to scare me (or excite me), pull up and ask for Dawn while waving a set of handcuffs. LOL!
Thanks for the road info...we weren't quite sure.
Hey, BTW, the last time we were there the GRDA did talk to us about being on the lake side with our quads...not allowed...but they were really nice guys. I asked for a ride and he said he couldn't unless I was wearing the bracelets. Haha.
When we were there, there were several guys back there shooting some guns...that was scary!

Myself and my daughter were there Saturday morning, it was quiet, pretty much just us and some guys fishing there, (that's the nice thing about Salina)talked to a couple of the GRDA guys, there is no camping allowed now on the lake (east) side of the dam, they didn't seem to happy about people camping on the west side of the dam( the dam is the dividing line) but unless someones complains I doubt, anybody will know your there, I'm assigned to the north halve of the county, so might not make it by, but will try,you guys sound like an interesting bunch. I already told the deputies working the south district to ignore calls about a wild party at the dam...lol, so have fun, and please be careful, don't want to have to rescue anyone down there.

One thing I forgot to tell you, was there was a lot of the lower section, (by the boat ramp) thats under water, so all you can do is ride the trails on the north side, but the boat ramp is accessible. Also some of the street signs are just numbers, Boatman road is NS439.. Have Fun

P.S. Yes, we are an interesting bunch....and we're Outlaws, so it never hurts to have someone on the law on our side. Haha.

I checked with the GRDA guys they tell me, that there is no camping on GRDA property now at all, the nearest camp ground would be snowdale park,at highway 20 and boatman road. Sorry just found this out.
